Member institutions of the Data Liberation Initiative (DLI), who are partners in or subscribers to the Equinox system are authorized to provide access to microdata, statistical and other files for all regular members of their university or college community under certain conditions. The following paragraphs summarize these terms of use.
The data are available for the exclusive use of the faculty, students, researchers and staff members of universities or colleges that subscribe to the Equinox system (referred to hereafter as "authorized users"), and only while they have such status at their university. More information:
The data are the property of the data distributors or producers. The present terms of use pertain only to the use of the data; they in no way transmit right of ownership or any other rights, including copyright, to users.
The data are provided for the exclusive purposes of teaching, research, academic publishing, or planning of educational services, and may not be used for any other purposes without explicit written approval, in advance. Inclusion of limited portions of the data is permitted in research communications, scientific articles, research reports, dissertations, theses and other documents of this kind, on the condition that the user has authorized access to the data.
Authorized users and other university-affiliated persons are prohibited from using these data in the pursuit of any commercial or income-generating venture, either privately, or under the auspices of their university. The distribution of any data obtained under this agreement, or any part thereof, outside the university through sale, donation, transfer or exchange in any way is strictly prohibited. Users may not keep a copy of any portion of these data, except as a backup copy, without the express written consent of the distributing agency.
Use of any of the data implies that you have read, understood and consented to the terms and conditions under which these data are provided. The distributing agency may require reports concerning your use of the data. It is the responsibility of the user to request written permission from the distributing agency in advance for purposes not authorized or mentioned in this agreement.

Authorized users of member institutions who wish to access data from Equinox from off-campus must use their institution's Proxy server, or other similar means. Consult your institution's local contact for details.
