Location and directions

There will be a travel subsidy covering a portion of transportation costs for DLI contacts attending the workshops. Until we have a firm idea of numbers, it is not possible to give exact amounts, but it should be no less than 50% of excursion (cheap) fares. For those travelling from the Toronto area, there is an express train daily except Saturday leaving Union Station at 5:00pm and arriving in Montreal at 8:59pm.

Please let us know whether you are planning on attending the workshop and/or conference. Reply to wwatkins@ccs.carleton.ca. Many thanks.

Using SPSS as scissors and paste: Putting together and pulling apart DLI surveys (Wendy Watkins)
Some surveys contain multiple units of observation, while others come in many parts. This workshop will give participants hands-on experience using both types of files. The General Social Survey, Cycle 8 and the Canadian Travel Surveys will be used as examples.

Seeing Beyond 20/20: making wider use of a data browser (Chuck Humphrey)
